Over the past few months I've been working on starting a free hosting company in my spare time. I've got a $45/mo connection payment, a $800 whitebox server (built myself
), and now a $450 cpanel license. Hopefully I should get all the money back from google ads, but that's another issue.
My problem is encountered when I go to install cPanel.
Here are the server specs:
OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+
RAM: 2x 512MB DDR PC 3200 (1GB in other words)
HD: 120GB WD w/ 8MB cache
I enter the following commands into a root terminal:
mkdir /home/cpins
cd /home/cpins
wget htttp://layer1.cpanel.com/latest
sh latest
After I do, it goes through the regular procedure up until:
Installing...1......1x...2........................ .................................................................................................... ..........
And all it does from that point on is add periods at a rate of about one period a second. I let it sit for about 4 hours, and all I saw was a really long list of periods. I've never installed cPanel on a local machine before, so I'm totally clueless as to what the problem could be.
All firewalls disabled, all ports open except 80 thanks to my crappy ISP. :P
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
