Installing CentOS 7 root password problem

Hello,

I followed the steps in an article: How to Install CentOS 7.1 Step by Step, with Screenshots. When I came to: Step 12: Set Up Root Password, the problem began when I had to set up a root password for the first time, not recover an old or forgotten password. I tried several mixes of chars and symbols (all ascii-code) but without luck. My input was rejected for different reasons. How to continue?

Thanks in forward
ostene

Would you care to share those reasons with us. This may give us a clue about what your problem is.

you need to type it in twice

the two HAVE TO MATCH

if the second time you type in the password it MUST match the first time

a normal double check

this is done all the time on almost ALL online reregistration
and in every password creation

Installing CentOS 7.1 root password problem.

My system is: ASUS motherboard Z87-K.

Of course I typed the password twice.
The error message was: "requested password containes non-ASCII characters, which are not allowed"

The password I tried was e.g. "asdfgcsv" containing only characters a-z and A-Z.

Thanks

Did you try another keyboard?
I remember having to click down twice, if the password wasn't complex enough.
How it you get past the issue?

a few days old but
for the password
Code:

asdfgcsv
you SHOULD get a WARNING !!! you have to click through about a VERY WEEK password FIRST
then after the warning the error

but then again i use a 18 to 36 character alphanumeric string i have memorized
yes it is long and in that range - someplace

so it is more than enough to pass the "complexity test"

What is your NATIVE language and what language is the keyboard set to
