Installing ati 9700pro drivers in mandrake 9.2

I just installed MDK9.2 and now want to enable full 3d for my 9700pro.
I installed Nvidia drivers once before, but never Ati.
Do I still have to get he 3rd distro CD and install the kernel-dev package.
IS installing Ati drivers onlinux fairly straight forward.

Nope.
Unfortunately you'll have to do some tips & tricks to get it working as you wish.

After installing the required rpm you'll have to edit your XF86Config for some fine tuning.

Be brave.

The ATI drivers are available in RPM format.
You will need to download and install the correct version for your XFree86.

Once you have installed the RPM, the fglrxconfig command will ask you a series of questions (resolutions, screen refresh rates, etc) in order to configure your X.

Once done, restart X and that's it. :)
