installing apache web server errors

Hi there,
I am trying to set web server on my PC, so i try to install apache rpm package from one of the instalation cd. By the way i got Red Hat 7.2, 400Mhz procesor and 128 MB of RAM. I tried to install from CLI by typing rpm -ihv apache-1.3.20-16.i386.rpm. The error message is:
error: failed dependency
libmm.so.11 is needed by apache -1.3.20-16
So did a google search for libmm.so. Under the heading Provided. I get two links: mm and libmm.so.1 From link libmm.so.1 i get one package mm-1.1.3-fr1.i386.rpm. I did install this packaged and then tried apache -1.3.20-16 package, but it gives the same message of dependency. After that i went to the same website and under mm link get all the packages that are intended for RedHat 7.2. Now i am trieing to install them, but three of them whose package name does not includes letters [src] gives me a message, that this packages is already installed. And rest of the three packages in which names include letters [src] gives me following error message:
error: cannot create %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCE
No idea what to do next. How do i go about it? ..any ideas.
Thank's
Margots

Try installing the package from:
ftp://fr2.rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/u....3-11.i386.rpm

Hi,

you can try
Code:

rpm -ihv --nodeps apache-1.3.20-16.i386.rpm
this prevent rpm from testing dependencies, but this just installs httpd, you don't know for sure it really runs after that. Think it's no problem to test this, you can remove the rpm easy if it don't.

I would also say that if apache installation with nodeps fail, I would replace
mm-1.1.3.fr1 (some kind of french version ???)
with
mm-1.1.3-11
even --force would be effecient in that case...

Thank's LuggerHouse and zaphod666,
In both ways it did work, somewhat....
I did install as LuggerHouse said without runing check for dependencies, but i could not find Apache installetion files under /etc/httpd/conf (no httpd directories) and /var/www/html/(no file index.html in present). Also no configuration files.
so then i did as zaphod666 told, hoping that it will make the instilation and configuration files. Zaphod666, you were right about the french version. After i removed it and installd apahce-1.3.20, it let me install apache package from Linux installation disk without giving an error of dependencies.
But it did not create the instalation files and configuration files(including HTTPD daemon) that i mention above.
Any ideas why is that?

In my Instaltion cd there are two apache packages. The only way they differ is by part of the name consist of manual or devel. What is the difference? Do i need both of them? I did installed both of them, but still no instilation nor configuration files.
Thank's
Margots

Why not just forget the rpms and get the latest version of apache from their website:
http://httpd.apache.org

There is a good LAMP tutorial at:
