Unhappy Installing and Using 3D Studio MAX on Red Hat 7.3 using WINE....

is this even possible?
I have tried several times to get MAX installed on my LINUX box using the version of WINE that ships with Red Hat 7.3.
I have been able to install MAX 3.1 onto the machine but it fails to launch (causes an Unhandled Exception Error that spawns the debugger) I have been successful at getting MAX installed using VMware, but that is not really what I wanted....I wanted to run MAX on LINUX and get away from Windows, not run Windows in a window~

any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated...
thanks is advance...
