Well, I was so enamoured by the Screenshots for Entrance,
the (I think front end manager for Enlightenment) that I tried
to emerge it from the Gentoo Portal (Portage).

It was masked, being a 'beta' thing. I ended up adding about a half dozen
'unmasking' entries, to get it to compile without aborting.

When I rebooted, I didn't get quite the snazzy front end I was expecting.
Instead I got a kind of almost blank windows shell with a few little windows,
quite primitive. No real clue what to do from that screen, so I panicked
and rebooted into a Gnome session and un-emerged the whole thing.

If anyone has experimented with the Entrance for Enlightenment, please let me know if you got anywhere with it. Thanks!

it works, but you have to have the right versions of the efl libraries. the api of the efl libs are constantly changing ( the current ones in cvs will not work with entrance). you could try the ones from the files section at www.enlightenment.org, those should work.
