Installing and Running Wine Mandrake 9.2
Hi folks
I could not run Wine even after most suggestions. Here are few Qs which might help me to run it. 1. Where should I install? I have got the rpm for Mandrake 9.2. Or is it that where ever I install , it goes to the right place? Before installing do I need to su? 2. I already have window Xp running on my machine. So, do I need to create a fake ./wine and all the other files in it ? or can I point wint to /mnt/windows? 3. I already have word etc installed on Windows , so will I be able to run them or do I need to install them again in UNIX in wine folder. 4.Can somebody paste a sample config file as I couldn't find one. When I install wine it doesn't make .wine itself.I was suggested to make .wine and other subdirectory inside it and edit the config file. Thanks very much for your help. SS |

Thanks guys.
Here is what I got from winehq howto "If notepad doesn't work for you, you may need to create these directories yourself. To do that, create the following directories in your home directory: .wine/ .wine/c_drive .wine/c_drive/Windows .wine/c_drive/Windows/Fonts .wine/c_drive/Windows/Start Menu/Programs .wine/c_drive/Windows/System .wine/c_drive/Windows/System32 .wine/c_drive/Windows/Temp .wine/c_drive/Program Files .wine/c_drive/Program Files/Common Files After this copy the following files from wine-YYYYMMDD/documentation/samples to $HOME/.wine/Windows: system.ini win.ini " Right I made all the directires as suggested BUT I need these two files- system.ini win.ini which I could not find in the documentaion which is missing in config and these files. Can somebody paste it for me please. Thank you so much for putting config file. I have just made it but will have to read what corrections do I need. SS |
