installing a user in mysql


in running a mandrake 10 laptop where i set up a local apache webserver with mod_perl php ect.. i recentally configured URPMI - which is very nice, though means of URPMI i installed mysql, also i tested to make sure it was installed by typeing
bash>mysql --help

which came with results..
but i have a problem.. when it was installed i never got prompt for a user/password.. which was probly auto-filled by URPMI needing a user and password i was wondering if there was any way to make a user..
