installing a .img file
 
Hi there, I have downloade a demo version of some software which allegedly - that's what it says - works with linux too.
It's an image so I tried the usual mount command but the output isn't exactly what I was expecting to be:

Can anybody please help me with that? Having encountered this situation before, I thought I would manage, but this software doesn't have a "linux" folder as I expected.
ANy advice please?
The folder has 4 files: a .png, a .sub a .img (which is the one I am trying to mount) and a .ccd

Seems to me like that is not a demo, as those ccd, sub and img files are likely the CloneCD image files of the original medium...

No idea mate, where I got it from it is says so, then whether it is or not I am not sure. I guess I will find out!

I assume the image is "taken" from some source and that your file is not really "free" That fact leads me to wonder the quality of the data. A book should not be in an image form.

Where did you get it from?

got it from here originally, but I guess the file might be corrupted http://oxford.brothersoft.com/oxford...ictionary.html
but nevermind, I found a better one online http://www.wordreference.com/, which is very similar so I won't even attempt to install the other one, sounds to complicated

Well, as already said, the other one was in a CloneCD image format. To use it on Linux you'd have to convert it to iso with a tool like ccd2iso or install something like cdemu.

Oh I see, thanks for letting me know, but I think I will be using the online one, it's quicker and I am always connected:-)
