hello to everyone. i'm a new linux(specifically, simplymepis distro) user. been using it since my windows system refused to boot, that was a few weeks ago.

anyway here's my problem. i downloaded the plugin for gaim, guifications, see, and on ./configure, it prompts pkg-config to look for my gaim package. well the thing is, i got my gaim from apt(since gaim's ./configure refuses to find glib which is already installed...), so a gaim.pc doesn't exist... pkg-config can't find it, guifications' installation wouldn't configure.

so.. i'm pretty much stuck. i tried to reinstall gaim from the source, but as before, ./configure insists that i don't have glib installed, though i'm running gaim as i type this right now...

yes. i'm crying for help. grovelling even.

ps= i originally included links to the mepis and guifications website, but i'm not allowed to post urls, it'd seem. hah, not like it'd matter much. i'm quite sure you all are already very good at googling...

I have a feeling that you don't have the development packages for glib installed. Try to find a package for your distro with the name "glib-devel" or "glib-dev" or similar and install that. If you've done that, configure should finish and you'll be able to compile Gaim.
