I finally got around to installing Redhat 7.2 on my system. I ran the installation yesterday and went with the default workstation config, and it turns out that didn't include many important things I needed (like the GCC compiler, for one), so rather than trying to go back and fix it, I decided to wipe the drive and start over from scratch. That's not the problem.
When I ran the installation for the second time, again on a clean drive, I went with the custom option, and opted to install a lot more than the previous time. The installation went fine, and then I went to boot up Linux. It got all the way through the boot process, then it told me it couldn't start the X server.

It couldn't even start the configuration program so I could fix whatever the problem was.
I do recall one thing I did differently that may be the cause...there were two options for my monitor. The first time I installed I selected the first option. The second time, against my better judgment, I selected the second option. Is there a file somewhere I can manually edit that would fix this? I'm a Linux newbie, but I have enough experience to know how to navigate around the text-based system and edit stuff.
Thanks!
