installed php and apache yet my php pages dont load ??

hi

i have just installed apache and i think that is working fine because when i go to

/var/www/apache2-default

and click index.html i get IT WORKS! so i am pretty sure that everything is ok with that.

i have also installed php5 and i though i would just open my scripts in firefox and it would run perfect. it seems i was wrong i know as i have had problems with php befor when i used hosting companys that if php isnt installed it will just ask you to save file as or open and that is what is happerning with me but i dont understand why if apache is working fine and terminal says i have the latest version of php5

when i go to terminal this is what happens

root@jessica-desktop:~# sudo apt-get install php5

php5 is already the newest version.

To check if apache actually works you should point your browser to http://localhost and see if you get the "It Works" page.
The same goes for php. Create a test.php in /var/www/apache2-default directory page containing:
Code:

<?php
phpinfo();
?>

and point your browser to http://localhost/test.php to see if php works.
