Installed Netscape - where's the Icon?

I've installed Netscape and followed the instructions supplied. It was installed in the Root session, and then I logged into my regular user session. The only problem is, there is no ICON on my program menu. Was I supposed to use RPM?

Andrew, what Linux distribution are you using? And what desktop environment? You may want to click on the user cp icon at the top of this page and add your distribution to your member control panel. That helps people help you :D

For me, that would be Slackware 9.1 and the KDE desktop, version 3.1.4. To add the Netscrape icon to my quick launch bar at the bottom of the desktop, I would right-click in an empty space on the bar, then select
Add ->
Application Button ->
Internet ->
Netscrape (Web Browser)

And if there's not enough room on the bar I would move the Taskbar applet handle and then the Pager applet handle over to the right a little to make room.

If you want to add it to the K Menu, then click on the K with the gear (same place as the Start button on that evil OS) and then select
Settings ->
KAppfinder
and that will find the rascal and add it for you, I believe.

'Netscape' Icon not in Internet Apps

I'm using Red Hat 9.0 with the KDE Desktop 3.1-12

If Netscape had placed an Icon in the Internet applications folder, I probably wouldn't have posted my original message. This is the core of my problem.

Nevertheless, I followed your instructions to add a quick-launch icon on the taskbar.

I Right clicked on an empty space, add application button, Internet...no Netscape!?

Sorry. Did you try KAppfinder? But maybe it's a moot point, since you also posted that you want to uninstall Netscrape.

Normally Netscape would be located in K Menu -> Networking -> WWW. If you didn't use the RPM then usually you won't get the icon without a little work. Try update-menus that may or may not help.

One way that will work is to use Konqueror and go to:
~/.kde/share/applnk-rh/Networking/WWW/
NOTE: I'm not sure about applnk-rh in mandrake it is applnk-mdk so I figured rh would be the same.

Anyway copy konqueror.desktop and paste it in that folder. It will ask if you want to rename it so go ahead and rename it to netscape.desktop. Now you can "right click" and select properties. You can change the icon, permissions and make sure you change the execute to the netscape executable, and the in Application tab change the name.
