Hi,

I want to run kazza and that's what this forum is for. I apreciate what you write and recommend using other progs, but we are discussing here the problems of wine

Sorry but in my previous message I wrote kazza was spitting out some messeage that because of hardware or software error it will terminate - it was adobe photoshop -
I think I have messed up the configuration because the day after it was running like a charm.
It migth be also a font issue as I have installed a large number of fonts since than and who can answer following questions:
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0009), starting debugger...

I also get this wine message trying to run other apps like Dreamweaver3 - what does it mean?
Which is this thread 0009 - it's always the same message! And are these messages linked together or are they different issues!

Can I use the win-binaries and dll's from read-only partitions?

sorry

Yeahh, you were talking about Wine and I am sorry for this. But if you look at it this way: CroossOver works on the basis of Wine, so basically there should be a way of making it work with the normal Wine.

I really don't want the Windows OS to touch my computer again, so vmware doesn't sound good to me. However, I tried for a while to get Kazaa going through Wine too. Then I realized it was absolutely pointless with all the equivilents out there. It's okay to let go of the bar, you're standing on the ground.

Read the post on page 1. MortaLKiNG explained it.

kazza like can be easily be replaced in linux. There are a number of different alternatives.

My favourite is giFT. Its a server based p2p. Basicly you run giFT, as a daemon. Then you can run which ever client you want. and there a number of different client out there that can satisfy everyone. http://gift.sourceforge.net/

I personal favourite client is giftcurs, which is CLI based and is great looking.
and i also like http://apollon.sourceforge.net/ which looks a lot like kazaa Lite and i believe it has interface for mplayer, to preview all the movie files
I also like it becuase it uses QT, and it looks great.

There a number of clients, an interesting one is a webbased client
