Installation Problems

Hi,
I am a newbiw in Linux. I just installed RedHat 9. But there are a few problems I am facing.
1) I dont have gcc installed.
2)I want to install VPN client on my comp. I tried to installing kernel-source-2.4.20-8.rpm without success. It says
gcc >= 2.96-98 is needed by kernel-source-2.4.20-8
Can someone help me out here.

well, you need to install gcc as stated by the error report. You can't build packages without it, even rpms.

I was able to install the gcc but still i am not able to start the vpn client. on starting VPN by

i get

i have 3.4.20-8 installed.
