Question Installation of Java runtime 1.4.1_05 for Open Office 1.1

I'm trying to install java j2re-1_4_1_05-linux-i586.bin that is stated by Sun to be a " Linux self-extracting file". Should it just be down loaded in to /usr/share/java and then be ready to go with Open Office 1.1 or should I give some commands to make it working?

Make it executable by being root and do a:
chmod +x j2re(blabla)

then execute the file by typing ./j2re(blabla)

that should execute the file

tedist_god i solved the problem in following manner.

1 placed the file j2re-1_4_1_05-linux-i586.bin in the file /usr/share/java

2 cd /usr/share/java

3 chmod 777 j2re-1_4_1_05-linux-i586.bin

tedist_god!
As I believe that you are a "searcher" I'm recommending you to buy Slackware 9.1 Official as well as the book Slackware Linux Essentials. Take it from the beginning and you will eventually see the light. It is allways hard to learn something new.
