Installation Fedora
I am having some trouble installing software at Fedora 5.ok I put the cd into the machine and I want to install a file.what I do is to write
rpm -Uvh filename.rpm and it writes <<error: open of filename.rpm failed: No such file or directory>> the same happens with yum.What is the problem here?

You need to mount the CDROM (if it didn't automount) and use the full path to the required rpm:

rpm -Uvh /media/cdrom/path/to/rpm/filename.rpm

cd /media/cdrom/path/to/rpm && rpm -Uvh filename.rpm
I haven't used yum - but did you configure it to point to a repository?

By the sounds of it your are not in the same directory as the file your are trying to install. If you are putting the cd in and opening a console, the console will open to your home folder path, not the path of the cd. Probably the easiest way to do this would be to copy the file from your cd to your home directory first then use the command line to install it. Or if you know where on the cd the files is you can install it through the command line like something similar to this:

rpm -Uvh /media/cdrom/pathto/filename.rpm
I think FC5 places the cdrom under the /media directory, if it isn't you may need to search for it, possible under /mnt/cdrom
