install xen-3.4.1 on centos

only a tar.gz is available. i followed readme.

make world
make install

i updated menu.lst
title Xen 3.4 / XenLinux 2.6
kernel /boot/xen-3.4.gz console=vga
module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18.8-xen root=<root-dev> ro console=tty0
module /boot/initrd-2.6.18-128.7.1.el5xen.img

the installation created xen-3.4.gz, vmlinux-2.6.18.8-xen.

after reboot to the new kernel, kernel panic, ...failed to switch root ....

pls kindly advise.

Hello,

I think you have to create a new initrd.img that matches the new kernel. The one you use is for the old kernel.
Have a look at /lib/modules and if you find a directory for the new kernel, then run the mkinitrd script:

mkinitrd --omit-scsi-modules --with=xennet --with=xenblk --preload=xenblk newinitrd.img 2.6.18.8something

Regards

RON
