I'm getting read to install suse linux on a second hard drive. Any tricks or pitfalls known for this to boot properly? Any more info needeed I will give

just install suse on the second drive and to make things simple put lio on the mbr of your first drive to dual boot

Thanks that helps alot. One last question, if I choose not to install lilo on the mbr of the first disk, can I just boot from a floppy?

Yes, you could choose to boot from a floppy if you would like.
