Hello, I am trying to uninstall and install again the rpm-4.0-2.6mdk, the thing is that I have destroyed it somehow and I want to reinstall it again. But this happens when I try as superuser of course:
> rpm -i rpm-4.0-26mdk.i586.rpm
cannot open Packages index using db3 - Permiso denegado (13)
Permiso denegado= you don't have the right
--> The rpm database cannot be opened in db3 format.
If you have just upgraded the rpm package you need to convert
your database to db3 format by running "rpm --rebuilddb" as root.
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
Same if I try rpm -e rpm-4.0-26.mdk.i586.rpm
And If I run rpm --rebuilddb it gives me the same error.
Oh, I see, it is a vicious circle, try the following
pop in your distro install CD's, find original rpm package, and do
rpm -ihv --force --nodeps package-you.think.is.rpm
