Using Ubuntu 14.04, the Software Centre cannot install ttf-mscorefonts.
I tried to follow the instructions here:
http://www.blackmoreops.com/2014/07/...onts-on-linux/ ,which are very recent.
The installer is on my machine:
ttf-mscorefonts-installer is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
root@pedro-bedro2:/home/pedro# ttf-mscorefonts-installer
ttf-mscorefonts-installer: command not found
It is in /usr/share/package-data-downloads/ttf-mscorefonts-installer, but was marked 'locked', so I did
root@pedro-bedro2:/home/pedro# chmod +x /usr/share/package-data-downloads/ttf-mscorefonts-installer
All other files associated with ttf-mscorefonts-installer are also 'locked'.
Trying to run it, I get a long list like this:
root@pedro-bedro2:/home/pedro# /usr/share/package-data-downloads/ttf-mscorefonts-installer
/usr/share/package-data-downloads/ttf-mscorefonts-installer: line 1: Url:: command not found
/usr/share/package-data-downloads/ttf-mscorefonts-installer: line 2: Sha256:: command not found
/usr/share/package-data-downloads/ttf-mscorefonts-installer: line 4: Url:: command not found
/usr/share/package-data-downloads/ttf-mscorefonts-installer: line 5: Sha256:: command not found
What is the problem?? Can I just copy the fonts from say a Win Machine into my fonts folder, then update the fonts cache??
