Install Star Office 5.2 on slackware 12.1

I am trying to install Star Office 5.2 on Slackware 12.1 and I fail. When I execute the setup file nothing really happens:
Code:

bash-3.1# ./setup /net
glibc version 2.7
bash-3.1#

It appears as if I have glibc 2.7 installed, total run time of app is less than 2 seconds. No install window ever opens.

I thought StarOffice 5.2 came out around the same time as OpenOffice 1.0; in fact isn't it the same thing?

Not that it's answering your question, and if you want to install SO 5.2 for some reason I hope someone can help you find out what's wrong, but why not just use the latest OO?

Star Office was also a collaboation program, not just word processor / spread sheet / other office-style software. It also has a callendar, scheduling, tasks, and alot more. These things were taken out of Open Office. I wish it were as simple as swithing to OO.

Also on another note (a crappy one at that) OO does not support sdw (Star Office Document Writer) formatted files despite the fact that OO came from SO.

Version 5.2 , already old in year 2004 ?
Try this : # ./setup

I don't know version 5.2, have a copy of 5.1 saying :
No X protocol .......
Could be, it will run on Slackware 8.1 ? ?

Version 6.0 will work on Slackware 12.1 , but may be
the ancient tools from 5.2 have been left out.
( My copy of 6.0 is from March 2003.)

Version 8 used to be free to download

I need the collaboration part of star office. I believe the last version with that is 5.2. I am going to try to install onto 10.2 instead of 12.1 and see how that works. Currently my company is using Slackware 9.x and need to upgrade for wpa_supplicant which is available in 10.2 (if I remember correctly). Would have rather used 12, but 10 will suit well enough assuming Star Office installs
