Centos 6 no longer has gui install available. Where can I find a good write up on manual install of samba on centos 6(and not just a anonymous loging)?

Sorry, but installing CentOS (by default), pulls up a GUI installer. And if you mean " AFTER I install CentOS 6, there isn't a GUI", then that's been addressed many times. By default, RHEL6 and CentOS6 do not install any desktop environment, and default to console terminal. Which is why there have been MANY answers to this question on this site. Type in "sudo yum groupinstall "Desktop Environment"", and press ENTER. That's it.

Google is a good place to start:
http://www.krizna.com/centos/install...Speed=noscript
http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/De...nfiguring.html
From there, you can modify the config files as you see fit. Also, be aware that if this is a new installation, CentOS 6 is old...the latest version is 6.5, with 7 out VERY soon.

I'm using centos 6.4. I will try loading the desktop environment as suggested . You say installing Centos by default pulls up a gui installer. By default do you mean selecting desktop install?

There are literally THOUSANDS of guides on loading desktop environments for CentOS/RHEL 6 that Google can lead you to...just checking there first can often save you posting questions.

No, because again, CentOS/RHEL 6 does not have a GUI installed by default. I mean the actual INSTALLATION PROGRAM, that comes up when you put in a DVD...the one you saw and used when you installed CentOS, unless you didn't have a keyboard/mouse/monitor installed when you did the installation, and installed via ILO or some other means.
