Install rpm on gentoo, /bin/sh needed


Hello There!!
I was trying to install maya on linux but when I mount the iso file, I found out there were only rpm packages, how can I install them on gentoo, I tried emerging rpm, but when I did rpm -i package.rpm I got error falied dependencies /bin/sh is neede by package.rpm
Any ideas ??

In slackware /bin/sh is just a link to bash.
If you are sure that all dependencies are OK you may try --nodeps flag, in the rpm command.
This way the rpm won't check the dependencies.

I will try that, but how do I issue the command with those options?
Before or after the -i or without -i ?

Most rpm based distro users would tell you to try something like:

rpm -ihv --nodeps <rpm package>

i: install
h: Print 50 hash marks as the package archive is unpacked. Use with
-v|--verbose for a nicer display.

-v verbose
