install qcad

I downloaded qcad-3.10.0-linux-x86_64.tar.gz. I looked at instructions at http://www.qcad.org/en/qcad-installation#linux, but still can't get it installed. The instructions are for 32 bit. I am running LinuxMint 17 64bit on Dell Inspiron 1520, Intel Pentium Dual Core 64 bit, 2 GB RAM.

qcad should be in the debain repos

there should be NO need to build it from source
-- unless you WANT TO FOR FUN

check your package manager
Code:
su -
apt search qcad

Re #2.
No Debian / Ubuntu qcad packages any more for x86 (i386 or x86_64).

There are "transitional" packages for Debian Wheezy / Ubuntu 12.04 :
The transitional package by name `qcad' will install 'librecad'.
. https://packages.debian.org/wheezy/qcad
. http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/qcad

@borgward : You can use "qcad-3.10.0-linux-x86_64.run" for Mint 17-64bits, I guess
https://www.ribbonsoft.com/archives/...nux-x86_64.run
... Works OK with Ubuntu 14.04 - x86_64 :
There is one dependency : $ sudo apt-get install libjpeg62-dbg
