I am a Linux beginner on a Mandrake 10. I try to install some progs. like firefox or my online banking. From the console i get the ff. text:

preparing to install...
WARNING: /tmp does not have enough disk space !
Attempting to use /root for install base and tmp dir.
Extracting the JRE from installer archive..
Configuring the installer for the systems environment..
Launching installer..
Invocation of this Java Application has caused an Invocation Target Exception. This application will now exit. (LAX)

What are I am sopposed to do ?

Well the most obvious cause would be lack of disk space as mentioned on the second line. The "df -h" command will show you the space usage on each of your mounted partitions. If this is the problem then the only real options are to uninstall some other stuff, clean up files a bit or resize partitions (if possible). If this isn't the problem then some information about the partitions on your system may provide some help.
