install new window manager

I just download and install the BlackBox window manager on my RH linux 7.2 which is running with GNOME and KDE. The installation is fine but I can not switch to BlackBox. I used the switchdesk utility but there is no option to choose for BlackBox.
I tried to type the command "blackbox" at the command line but an error says there is another window manager running. I try to find the files ~/.xinitrc and ~/.xsession but there is not any those files on my computer.
I don't know what I should do? Please help me!

Try creating those files! Do you automagically boot into a GUI login?

Yes, my linux boot directly into GNOME.
Can you tell me how to write the script for .xinitrc or .xsession?

well you can add the blackbox into GDM pull down list, to do so go to /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions and create a single file as root
blackbox with contents
#!/bin/bash -login
/etc/X11/xdm/Xsession blackbox
Second step is modifying your /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession, open it up sroll down to the case statement
and add there similar entry for blackbox for instance
             exec /path/to/blackbox
That's about it, now you'll have blackbox as an entry in your GDM pull down menu upon login.
