Install Mcafee in redhat
Hello. I am just signed in to this web site.
Actually i have one problem with the installation of the redhat 9.0.
The installation of the software i want to install is McAfee 7.0 into redhat 9.0. McAfee Anti-virus i installed is for the scanning the virus on the email only. And the PC i installed will become as a server which could easily and automitically update the others client's anti virus version.
Does anybody have any "complete" guideline?
Your concerning would be appreciated by us.
thanks

With McAfee 7.0 I think you mean the Windows desktop version.
It will not work under Linux (maybe Wine, dunno) and even if it did, it wouldn't be suitable for running on a mail server (see http://www.openantivirus.org/av-unix_e.txt).
What you need is the McAfee Unix package (uvscan) and something that interfaces with the mail server, like Inflex or Amavis.

Thanks for unSpawn ...
that is what i am concerning now
actually, i have one customer's company that has installed the Mc VirusScan 4.5.1 and have fews of the computer isntall the VirusScan 7.0 (depend on the OS of that computer).
They have one proxy server and mail server which i want to install the Mcafee virus into. I wonder if the linux can install the McAfee 7.0
Now i know the answer that UvScan can be installed in the linux.
Do you have any installation guideline that would help me to install in linux. The server i installed will be the Macfee server in the compant which may help me to install and update the virus pattern(.Dat) in the system to the 20s PC client (Microsoft windows)
anyway thanks for your help
Now i read the note you give to me ...

No. 7.0 is windows-only.
Do you have any installation guideline that would help me to install in linux.
Please use Amavis.org, Pdaniels.com or Xamime. They all have documentation either on-site or in the package. If after reading you've got specific questions, please post them.

AFAIK to be able to update .DAT files you need to script this in Windows, preferably some action at login time (and no I can't help you with that: too long ago).

i don't know how to use mcafee to update the virus in linux to every client in windows
