Install driver for intel pro wireless 3945ABG
Hello, I am new to linux.
Very New. I have a gateway convertible notebook and want to be able to access my wireless card through linux. I have managed to download what I believe are the appropriate files and I begin to follow the directions in what I think is an intelligent manner, but I get nowhere. I have found the console and type in % bla bla bla (What ever it told me too type in and yes I know that linux is case sensitive.) All I get is "no such job found" At this point I think that either I am REALLLY DUMB or something is wrong. OR BOTH!! By the way I am running Fedora core 6, with the evil Vista residing on the other half of my hard drive. If anyone can have mercy on me I would appreciate it. I have asked all of the college graduated software engineers that I know (2) and they just point and laugh. Help Electrifiedspam |
Here's a good link on Fedora Core 6:
http://www.fedorafaq.org/ Replace your yum configuration with the one suggested there, then at the command line type: yum -y --enablerepo=freshrpms install dkms-ipw3945 ipw3945d ipw3945-firmware I believe you might have to also do a 'modprobe ipw3945'. Your wireless card should be good to go after that. |
