inserting a modules into the Kernel

Hi,
I'm runing Mandrake 7.2 with the 2.2.17-21 kernel and i'm having issues trying to insert a module into the kernel.....

i'm running the following command, and getting the following errors...

#insmod rtl8139.o

init_module: Device or resource busy
Hint: insmod error can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IR paramaters

just wondering if anyone can assist..

thanks

It sounds like there is already a module or internal kernel code for the that network card installed.

Do an lsmod to see what modules are already running (I'd guess if there is one loading it'll either be rtl8139 or rtl8139too). If you don't see anything there it could still be that the code is compiled into the kernel. Check out the dmesg output to make sure the network card driver isn't already loaded.
