incremental backup ....
 

Does anyone have or know where I can get a perl or shell script which can compare recursively 2 directories and to see which files have changed (time stamp check) and do a incremental backup based on such a list..?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but checkout http://flexbackup.sourceforge.net/ Something rsync based might work to http://www.nongnu.org/rdiff-backup/
