Incomplete wallpaper on Openbox

When Debian starts and I get the login widget, there is a blueish official Debian wallpaper on the background.

After the session begins, my own wallpaper kicks in. It's not wallpaper, it's just a solid color.

Sometimes, that works. Sometimes, I see a strip of the blueish official Debian wallpaper at the bottom of my screen, around the task bar. Think of a curtain that should be lowered all the way to the floor but is a few inches too short.

Now it happens all the time. Every time. Without fail.

Any ideas to fix this?

what are you using to set the wallpaper, and by what means does the application get put to use?

in other words what script is driving the program to set the images onto the root desktop?

Have you checked the images themselves to insure they are not corrupted? manually setting them to the desktop via a terminal?
Code:
Esetroot -center image.jpg
hsetroot -center image.jpg
feh --bg-scale image.jpg
or the many other programs to set an image to the root desktop to insure the image(s) in question are not corrupted.

I right-click the Desktop area and select Preferences. The option is there.

you need to dig into whatever it is they are using to set your wallpaper, and see the why it is not working. It might be using a config file that you can fix this error. Setting background images it rather straight forward in openbox. You could write a script yourself to set the images.

Code:
#!/bin/bash

path2images=

while read f
do

Hsetroot -center "$f"
sleep 30m

done < <(find "$path2images" \( -type f -iname "*.png -o -type f -iname "*.jpg \) )
What is the name of the item you're clicking on in your menu, btw?
Look into see how that operates. post back what it is.

Sigh... Never mind.

I replaced the annoying blueish blackground with a plain one that matches the color I use as background. The flaw is still there, but now it's invisible. Thank you for your attention.

do you know that openbox has an autostart file in ./config/openbox. if it is not there you can create on and set whatever you want as a background in there so it sets itself when you log in automatically. Here is there page. Taking a look through it should help you understand it better.
