In honor of April 1st

Old, but still worth a read and chuckle.

Quote:
"In an announcement that has stunned the computer industry, Ken Thompson, Dennis Ritchie and Brian Kernighan admitted that the Unix operating system and C programming language created by them is an elaborate prank kept alive for over 20 years..."
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~jbruce/humor/unix_hoax.html

Great lines from the article:
Quote:
"This was Dennis's contribution, and he in fact coined the term "pointer" as an innocuous sounding name for a truly malevolent construct."
Quote:
"We stopped when we got a clean compile on the following syntax:
for(;P("\n"),R-;P("|"))for(e=3DC;e-;P("_"+(*u++/8)%2))P("|"+(*u/4)%2);"

If you like that, you should really read this about C++; very funny and so close to the (perceived ) truth, that the myth is still believed by some

EDIT: Darn it, forgot link - http://www.snopes.com/computer/program/stroustrup.asp

Ha Ha Ha Ha...

To prove this correct, they would make another popular and useful programming language.
