Importing Playlists from an iPod

Hi there, I have an iPod (30gb 5.5 generation) that I wish to take all the music and playlists from to put on my computer. However, I have yet to figure out how to get the playlists from it. I spent a lot of time making those playlists and I don't wish to spend even more time to redo what I've already done. Thanks in advance.

Have you checked out GtkPod? Be warned though that if your songs aren't saved in mp3 or similar format (not Apple's proprietary format) you won't be able to play them back under Linux.

Thanks for the reply, but I have tried gtkpod and I couldn't figure out how to get the playlists (I can get the songs though). If you could explain how to get the playlists that'd be great. Thanks.

Haven't used it in quite a while but:

http://www.gtkpod.org/README
should get you going.

Since you run Debian, you may want to look at installing Banshee with iPod support.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I still don't seem to know how to get the playlists onto my computer. I did find a cool application known as songbird. The layout is pretty much the same as itunes. I guess I'm just going to make my playlists again. Thanks for all the help.
