imapd mailbox location

I have imapd installed on a fedora core1 box, my question is as follows
when i use my pop3 client to connect to the Imapd server (ipop3d) it tells me there is no new messages when in fact there are new messages in that users mailbox.
I set procmail up to feed mail to $HOME/mbox so basically how do i get ipop3d to look at that location, eventually I will want to do this with Ipop3ds as well.

Do i have to compile from souce to do this and specify it somewhere in the makefile, or is there some kind of global variable that i can change???

Thanks for your help!

I changed the Mail Location procmail delivers to to be $HOME/Maildir and the messages get delivered into that folder ./new procmail seems to have created the three cur, new, and tmp folders for me and is storing all new messages in new. Now the only problem is that it seems that pop3d still cant access them because no messages are availible for me to download.

Somehow in between changing the format from mbox to Maildir my pop client did actually download 2 messages?????? I dont get it.

I think i need to play with the $MAIL variable???? but how do i set that server wide?

Which imap/pop3 server are you using, UW-IMAP?

UW-IMAP looks for mail in /var/spool/mail

If you wanted to move you mailbox to some other place than
/var/spool/mail then you would have to recompile it after editing
'the source'.

Look at the CONFIG file

I am using UW-Imap however I think there must be a different alternative because i somehow sucessfully downloaded 2 pieces of mail from the server, for some reason 5 -10 minutes later it stoped working however.

Is their something that resets the global $MAIL variable?
