IMAP and thunderbird

is it possible? getting my email from webmail.musc.edu

is webmail.musc.edu also the server name? if not how would i find what the server name is?

That machine offers a webmail, not imap protocol. Ask for for your IT department where
their IMAP[Internet message access protocol] (or pop3[post office protocol]) server is and how to access it.

found the actual server name and all that good stuff...

now I keep getting a message saying that I have exceeded the number of connections to the server. Use the advanced IMAP server settings to reduce to number of cache connections.

Ive reduced the number of connections from 5 to 1 and am still getting the same message

any help?

Thunderbird has some serious issues with IMAP connectivity...I was also forced to roll back thunderbird from around 80 users after similar problems...i suggest u stick to outlook express until the TB developer community does something about the number of connections opened
