Question imake and free86

Hi guys

I,m looking for some help in compiling xfree 86 for my $LFS system.

My first question regards the actual source files, which ones should I download?

I,ve got one set here

ftp://ftp.x.org/pub/R6.6/tars

which are labelled up as R6.6

and these here

ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4.1.0

which are labelled as 4.1.0

which ones should I download???? its not to clear.

the second question regards the compiling of them.

The instructions state that compilers as by gnu are not supported and ld is also not supported, what am I supposed to do?

Also any tips on installing imake would be helpfull.

Thx guys

Just a geuss here, but I would assume that the R6.6 reffers to the X11 files, whereas the XFree86/4.1.0 would be the actual XFree86 files. I would try the former first (XFree86 in case my memory has failed for former/latter.)

As for $LFS, is that Large File System, or JASCA (Just Another Computer Acronym?) If it is large file system support, XFree86 doesn't care about the file system.
