Imaging software

Hello All,

I am working on some imaging software that will image windows machines and store the images on a server (basically I am using ntfsclone and giving the user a nice frontend). I am looking to create it somewhat close to the way altiris works (of course mine will be free), but I need to be able to have a preemptive Linux os. So I need to boot linux and then from linux boot windows. I have NO idea how to do this. Does anyone have any advice? I would really apperciate your help.

thanks,
John

If u want a emulated linux, use VMWare. But light weight distros like knoppix, damn small linux or a complete linux distro is recommended.

But how can I have an OS that premptively boots. The altiris guys write something that is accessible when the machine boots:

The machine boots and says:

Booting to automation:
it then fetches an ip address and finds if there is any jobs for it to do such as a reimage. if there is the machine goes into reimage mode. if there is nothing the machine says:

Booting to production and then boots to windows XP

I need to make the automation be a Linux OS. does anyone have an idea how I can make a linux os boot before a windows OS
