Imaging a dual boot windows/linux

Has anyone successfully used disk imaging software to create an image of a dual boot linux/windows system to dvd.

If so, does the imaging software copy only the used partition space (ie. excluding any free space) as well as the bootloader?

Did you have good experiences with any particular open source disk imaging software?

Thanks

Hi,

I've had good results with clonezilla, the compression will reduce the final image size, howto here:
