ImageMagick configure not finding libjpeg library

Hello,

I'm installing ImageMagick 6.3.0 on Fedora Core 4. When ImageMagick is being configured, it is supposed to check for the existence of certain libraries (e.g., libjpeg) and include support for them if they are found. Before running this script, I made sure that the libjpeg library was installed. An exerpt of the configure output is as follows:

Code:
                  Option Value
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shared libraries --enable-shared=yes yes
Static libraries --enable-static=no no
Module support --with-modules=yes yes
GNU ld --with-gnu-ld=yes yes
Quantum depth --with-quantum-depth=8 8

Delegate Configuration:
BZLIB --with-bzlib=yes no
DPS --with-dps=yes no
FlashPIX --with-fpx=no no
FontConfig --with-fontconfig=no no
FreeType --with-freetype=yes yes
GhostPCL None pcl6 (unknown)
Ghostscript None gs (7.07)
Ghostscript fonts --with-gs-font-dir=default /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1/
Ghostscript lib --with-gslib=yes no
Graphviz --with-gvc=yes no
JBIG --with-jbig=yes no
JPEG v1 --with-jpeg=yes no
JPEG-2000 --with-jp2=yes no
LCMS --with-lcms=yes no

PERL --with-perl=no no
PNG --with-png=yes yes
RSVG --with-rsvg=no no
TIFF --with-tiff=yes yes
Windows fonts --with-windows-font-dir= none
WMF --with-wmf=yes no
X11 --with-x= no
XML --with-xml=yes no
ZLIB --with-zlib=yes yes
As can be seen, jpeg support is not included, even though the library is installed. Just to make sure that the libjpeg is the most current, I unistalled/reinstalled the library via rpm and ran the configure script again, but to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what can be done to get ImageMagick to recognize this library (and libwmf, which is installed and not being recognized as well)?

Thanks,
TWR

First of all, does Fedora Core 4 include a binary package of ImageMagick? If it does, using that might be easier.

If it doesn't though, or it isn't the version you need, then read on. My guess is you've only installed the runtime version of the libraries (used to run a program that needs the library), not the development version (needed to compile a program that needs the library. Look for (and install) a package called libjpeg-dev (or possibly -devel). Likewise for libwmf.

Hope this helps!

libjpeg-dev works

I installed libjpeg-devel and the configure returns correct results for jpeg now. Should be similar for libwmf.

Thanks a million, trevelluk.
