Smile Image Processing Package

Hallo all,

I'm looking for a recommended image processing software, which is capable of detecting edge/contour of selected objects in an image. I believe such functionality is a kinda trite for image processing, and there should be some open source program available.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Have you tried browsing the GIMP Plug-in registry? I was surprised at some of the things I found there.
I don't have the link handy, but Google will find it.
