Image Editing Tools Suggestions Please
Hi Folks,
Could u please suggest some good image editing software that is available for red-hat? I need to basically resize the images clicked on my digital camera. They are around 1 MB each. I need to format them for uploading them onto Yahoo Photos. Also need a software that will create thumbnails of images. Thanks :newbie: |
So ImageMagick is for you...
ImageMagick is GREAT software to editing images. Also it comes with a 'convert' command that running in console. By using 'convert' command, you can easily change the sizes, colors, effects and all settings of thousands pictures' in one time... It is so powerful tool when used with BASH scripting... Take a look at: http://www.imagemagick.org You can find how to use 'convert' command in the website... |

The GIMP, a more comprehensive graphics tool, will do that for you, too. Good luck, Dai |

A linux distro without the Gimp!!! I'm amazed !
|
i am using redhat release 9. the distro is packaged without any tools. i got this from a magazine cd. i didnt getjava either. :newbie:

Red Hat is outdated, switch to something newer (Fedora Core 2, Mandrake 10.1 Community) if you want the latest stuff...or you are going to have to upgrade everything yourself
|
i usually w8 for a magazine distro to come out and then install it from that cd

For what it's worth I used ImageMagick to automate the creation of thumbnails for links on my CO's intranet site. Ibm had a nice write up on it http://www-106.ibm.com/developerwork...af/?ca=dnt-428 My :twocents: |
Good Writeup. I copy-pasted your idea on my pc.
I also installed the gimp. cool piece of software. all the snaps i click in digital camera are over 1 mb in size. its to maintain image quality. i need to cut them down to size for the same reasons as yours. i upload them to the website. :newbie: |
