Im lost when it comes to choosing the right download for xine????

What do I have to do on a step by step basis to download xine for my rh9 os I see a million different things on each web page that I go to and I dont know what is the right thing for me download. I went to the xine page and downloaded the newest lib for xine and the skin for kde 3.1 I believe with the noatun screen because that's the one I believe I have.

http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/

Worked for me when I followed the instructions to the letter.

then let's make this simple, shall we?

download these two things:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/x...-1-rc3a.tar.gz
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/x...-0.9.23.tar.gz

the first one is the xinelib, the second is xine-ui (i know you said kde theme, but xine-ui is an internal project and is the one i've used so i can help you with it; it is full-featured too)

after downloading double-clicking them will open up file-roller so you can untar them; i usually untar things into my /home/username folder

you can always use the terminal to do your untarring of course
now in the terminal, cd into the xine-lib folder (the full name of the folder of course) and then do
./configure
make
su (enter root password)
make install
exit

now do cd into your xine-ui folder and do the same thing as before; to start xine, just type xine in a terminal
