IE6 SP1 won't play with Squid

I can't get no help from M$oft on this so I thought I would ask here to see if anyone knows a work around.

There is several threads on this in the Squid mailing list but I haven't seen any solutions yet.

I use Squid as my proxy server and I have 20+ Win2000 workstations accessing the net through proxy.

IE6 worked fine with Squid... but when I patch to IE6 SP1, the proxy auth window pops up, I log in and immediately get a DNS error page. If I then hit home or refresh the default home page loads.

If I then uninstall IE6 SP1 and reinstall IE6 it goes to my default home after proxy auth like it should.

Anyone know of a work around until Microsoft wakes up and admits there is a bug in IE6 SP1?

Now there are two security patches that won't install because IE6 SP1 is not installed. You know... the usual security patches that are supposed keep someone from taking control of a Win2000 box.
