Idea for a Qt quotes application, please evaluate...

I'm new to designing in Qt and I came up with an idea to create a application that shows a random quote, in a mini pop-up(compared to the pop-ups in Amarok), on the top(or where ever the user chooses) of the screen that pops up every x amount of minutes or hours etc.

I thought it would be cool if the user could specify a feed, e.g. lets say a certain quotes feed from About.com or it could even give the ability to make your own list of quotes.

Would it be worth my time or would no one but me use it? I want to create software that people will be interested in using, whether it's something simple or not.

I'm not asking anyone to help code it, I just need some justification to build it.

Thanks

It's hard to imagine anyone wanting to have their desktop interrupted with some magic jinni popping up out of the blue and maybe capturing their keystrokes. If you have a really cool source of quotes, you might consider automatically changing the MOTD if you're in an environment that uses MOTD. More than once a day would be a tough sell. Imagine coming back to your desk after a weekend and finding the desktop plastered with these things. Ugh.

I just caught this part when I pressed send. If you really want to get involved, look for an orphaned Linux package to resurrect, or look for a package that needs more developers or testers. There's lots of work to be done for people who are committed to it.
