IDE woes - Kdevelop still Krappy

Honestly I'm not a negative person, I'm just really disappointed with the most recent version of kdevelop (3.0.2 & 3.0.3).

The bulk of my work is scientific number crunching console applications so my requirements for an IDE are downright embarrassing. I write my own makefiles etc. so all I REALLY want is automatic code completion with user defined classes and an integrated debugger...

I was really excited about getting the new SuSE (9.1) because Kdev2 has been increasingly unstable on every platform I've tried (RH 7,8,9, SuSE 8, Mandrake 9.0 9.1 9.2 ). But Kdev 3.0 is the worst yet. I have to open it twice because it usually SIGABRTs the first time. I am also unable to adjust the toolbars, I add the buttons I want, but they don't show up on the bar.

I'm thinking Anjuta might be the answer... Does it have code completion? Can anybody help me use my own make file with it? I've tried twice now and I really don't know what's going on.

If that doesn't work I'm going to use Kate and Insight and give up on code completion :(

anjuta has code completion . (though i find code completion annoying on anything else than vim (the ^P thingee). about writing your own make files i am not sure.
