Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Looking for a linux app that will mass edit, rename, create, etc id3v1 & v2 tags.
I used to use this windows explorer addon called mp3-info that would let you do all that very simply. I can't seem to find an equivelant (yes, i have scoped the forums) :-(
Optional abilities would include Mass Normalizing and the ability to get rid of those PRIV tags that windows media forces into the ID3v2 section of the files.
actually, that was the first program I tried after browsing around the forums...correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it only do ID3v1?
You caught me there, I didn't check however I did now and it appears to. In Settings > ID3 Tag Settings there is an option to write ID3v2 tags also. I have version 1.99.12 installed
