icq problems - all apps involved

I'm having problems accessing the icq network

gaim and kopete and gnome-icu are all failing to show online users, all failing to deliver messages sent to me by win icq users and all failing to deliver msgs sent by me
this is not a consistent problem, but is rather, sporadic and unpredictable

talking to friends on icq is a main part of being online for me and if i cant rely on the linux apps to do it i will have to go back to windows for this

has anyone any similar experiences or work arounds???

Hi. I'm getting a similar problem. It works. then it doesn't.

Did you get any further with this?

which version of Gnomeicu are you using?

I also use ICQ a lot with my friends and so far I'm having no problems. I do know they have a new windows version out so they may have "tweaked" the protocol again so if you are using older versions that could be it.

Sorry I should have put that info. I'm using RH9 with GAIM 5.9 (the default that comes with it). I have all firewalls turned off.

I'm going to try and get the latest version today to see if that fixes anything. I'll let you know how it goes.
