IceWM wallpaper quality question

I've been toying around with IceWM for a few days. I like it fine, but the quality of my wallpaper (background) is lousy. I can load the identical wallpaper in IceWM that I use in KDE or fluxbox, and in IceWM it looks like it's rendered with 16 colors or something. Instead of smooth gradation, there are jagged bars of color on the screen.

Is there some way to fix this? I read the IceWM docs and did some Google and LQ searches, to no avail.

Thanks.

check the ~/.icewm/preferences file for options for wallpapers..

These are my settings.. and my wallpapers are perfect..

# Display desktop background centered and not tiled
DesktopBackgroundCenter=1 # 0/1

# Support for semitransparent terminals like Eterm or gnome-terminal
# SupportSemitransparency=1 # 0/1

# Desktop background scaled to full screen
# DesktopBackgroundScaled=0 # 0/1

# Desktop background color
DesktopBackgroundColor="rgb:00/00/00"

# Desktop background image
DesktopBackgroundImage="/home/UsualTuxpect/wallpapers/tux.png"

# Color to announce for semi-transparent windows
# DesktopTransparencyColor=""

# Image to announce for semi-transparent windows
# DesktopTransparencyImage=""

Thanks for the good reply, UsualTuxpect. The only one of my settings that was different was scaling, which I turned off. That did help, though of course the image doesn't cover the screen now. I found a larger version of the same image, which helped some. I'm curious about why KDE is able to stretch images and retain the quality much better. I guess IceWM uses the basic rendering of X or something.
