Icecast / Shoutcast

Hello all.

I have been asked to work on a project streaming a live feed over the internet. Years ago I have set up Icecast to broadcast all my mp3s from a list in this manor... I think the command I used to send the music to the server (same box) was shout...

This time around I need to take a signal from the "line in" of my sound card which will be connected via regual RCA cables to a mixer, turntable ect.... I know that part of the setup works because we can get it going under windows..

I have limited resources to deal with here so I really want to through Slackware on this thing..

I am testing Icecast on another box that i have running slack 10 on... But i cant seem to figure out the correct setup...

I have a few questions to start with, but im sure ill have more.

1. Its been a while since i used icecast and it appears there is a version 2.2 now... They said that i should use this if i want to broadcast in vorbis... Does this not support mp3 any more? I need to broadcast in mp3, so do i have to downgrade to 0.4????

2. I tried setting up icecast on my box but no matter what I do, when ever i connect either from winamp or xmms i get "error syncing to mpeg"...

3. The ONLY way i have able to get this setup on slackware was using shoutcast with the sc_trans program (which dosn't support "line-in").. I really want to be using icecast.. Can someone tell me what the best source-client i should be using.. If possible could you provide me with a working config file that I can alter.

Thank you all.

You should be able to use ices0 to stream mp3's to an icecast2 server.
